oh to reach one’s destination
without putting 
one’s head down to get there 
to navigate
gazing backwards at a vista
to sing a whole song through
without having to memorize it
play the horn of one’s choice
at first touch
to be the one the world speaks for
without first having to be endangered
to go out walking
go down walking
I came in walking
I fell, I hit the ground
walking, oh to be naturalized
into the country, the woods and the water
one would do anything
one belongs nowhere
oh to be quiet
be still one’s own
beating heart
till we get there
