BRIGHT NOON OF THE YEAR

2014
Sun Yung Shin

In the hum and string of this long light
The drumming up of sweet ghosts
Rabbits and moths and ribbons of dusk
We un-nest from our beds
Our ships at sea, the plains of our dreams
On this road, under endless arches of green and blaze of cloud
Our ancestors hungry as the moon for the sun, that pale fire
Here we are in the gold swoon of summer, hoof and horn
And memory and the heart full of antique seeds
Even this long day an heirloom, a lullaby
